Sonnenalp is a fantastic option for a stay in Vail Village.

I stayed at Sonnenalp for a ski getaway at Vail and this place did not disappoint. First, it is centrally located in Vail Village and is walking distance to Gondola One, as well as all the shops and restaurants.

The property itself is cozy and European (the sister property is in Germany). You are warmly greeted upon entering into an inviting lobby with many cozy nooks for lounging, reading Vail Daily, and enjoying the fire places.

The design of Sonnenalp is thoughtful, and they incorporate the important things everyone needs for a ski getaway- a great spa, indoor and outdoor pools, and several hot tubs.

The Mill Creek Loft Suite featured great outdoor balcony space with beautiful views of Vail Mountain.

The best feature of Sonnenalp is their ski concierge. Located within the Gorsuch Ski Cafe, the private lounge features lockers and staff for all of your ski/snowboard equipment. No lugging skis to and from the hotel- simply hand your equipment off upon arrival at the hotel and it will be waiting for you following a quick walk from the hotel. The ski concierge is located mere steps from Gondola One. Honestly this is reason enough to book a stay at Sonnenalp!

Other features of this hotel include a wonderful assortment of dining options on site, including a lovely breakfast option at Ludwig’s where you can have your latte in one of their big signature floral mugs and fuel up for a day on the slopes. Other options on site include Swiss Chalet (amazing), Bully Ranch, and The Stüberl at Ludwig’s.

One of the things that makes Sonnenalp so special is their service. Whether it’s bringing cookies by your room every evening, having champagne and strawberries delivered for a special occasion, or treats to welcome you back for another stay, Sonnenalp goes above and beyond with the details.

Yum!

Inevitably, I found myself back at Sonnenalp shortly after my first stay to get in some more great skiing and was welcomed with some treats!

  • you like treats!

If you’re like me you’ll keep coming back again and again! Check out Sonnenalp here!
