Where to eat in Vail Village?!

The following spots are my go-to’s when I’m in Vail Village. The best part? They are all clustered right near each other. If you’re staying at Sonnenalp or The Sebastian Hotel, you’ll be steps from some of the best spots.

  1. Vintage

  2. Swiss Chalet

  3. Alpenrose

  4. Ludwigs

  5. Leonora

Vintage. This is hands down my favorite spot in Vail Village and (and also one of my favorites in general!). This French brasserie and wine lounge is romantic and charming. Expect dishes like a duck confit galette, huckleberry bacon french toast, and mussels frites. Pair those with a Lavender Gin Fizz or a hot tea if you’re dining outside on the sheep skin covered bistro chairs. https://vintage-vail.com/

Swiss Chalet. If you like fondue and/or raclette, you will be in HEAVEN at Swiss Chalet. Seriously there is nothing better than a couple aperol spritzes and warm cheese after a day on the slopes. With options for meats, vegetables, pears & apples, and fresh breads to dip, the fondue is a delicious and fun experience.

The fondue is so delicious that of course that prompted return visits to try the raclette as well. Similar to the fondue, you can select meats and vegetables to grill on your personal griddle brought to the table. Underneath the grill you melt the raclette cheese until it is bubbling and warm! Between the fondue and raclette, I loved the flavor profiles of both but would pick the raclette for the grilling experience. https://sonnenalp.com/dining/swiss-chalet/

Alpenrose. Alpenrose is the perfect apres ski spot. This German/Austrian restaurant features a really cozy ambience with indoor and outdoor seating, as well as their new fondue gondolas. Sit outside after a long ski day and enjoy a beer and pretzel or bratwurst, or take it indoors for an aperol spritz and a pork shank or salmon. http://www.alpenrose-vail.com/

Ludwig’s. If you’re looking for a good breakfast before heading out on the slopes, Ludwig’s at Sonnenalp is a fantastic spot. This European style spot features classic dishes like benedicts and avocado toasts. Sip a coffee in one of their oversized signature floral mugs, and look out at Gore Creek from the terrace. https://sonnenalp.com/dining/breakfast/

Leonora. Last but not least, Leonora is a great option for both breakfast and dinner. Located in The Sebastian Hotel, enjoy tapas, Spanish and local inspired entrees, and an extensive wine list. Breakfast options include biscuits and gravy, short rib hash, and classics like a salmon benedict. If you’re looking for a sweet treat, try their signature gold flake hot chocolate! https://www.thesebastianvail.com/experience/leonora
